Cooperations/Advisory Board

Our project is a part of the field of Metal Music Studies, which has been undergoing rapid development over the last 10 years. Research in this field focuses on heavy metal as a cultural, musical, sociological, economic and media phenomenon. To facilitate an optimal interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary exchange, we’ll be collaborating closely with the leading scholars in Metal Music Studies.

Dr. Anna-Katharina Höpflinger (Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich), expert in semiotics, Professor Dr. Karl Spracklen (Leeds Beckett University), expert in metal cultural sociology, Dr. Niall W.R. Scott (University of Central Lancashire), philosophy, Dr. Anna Chilewska (University of Alberta, Edmonton), linguist, are international co-operators. Donald Maguire (Houston, Texas) is moreover providing his expert insight into corruption cultures. Dr. Sarah Chaker (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna) will share with us her expertise in metal musicology and. Also, we cooperate with historian Dr. Marco Swiniartzki (Friedrich-Schiller University Jena).

The advisory board consists of Professor Dr. André Doehring (University of Music and Performing Arts Graz) and  Professor Dr. Wolfgang Schmale (University of Vienna).
